Many students or even working professionals are confused about Linux and Unix.

Unix

Unix is a proprietary operating system originally developed in the 1970s at AT&T Bell Labs. It was designed for multitasking and multi-user functionality and is mainly used in enterprise servers and workstations. Unix systems are known for their high stability, security, and vendor-controlled environments.

Linux

Linux is an open-source operating system developed in the 1990s by Linus Torvalds. It is based on Unix concepts and supports multitasking and multi-user operations. Linux is widely used in servers, desktops, cloud computing, mobile devices, and embedded systems due to its flexibility, security, and strong community support.
